I have made so many promises to myself and broken it at the same time. I have met a few people who has fallen short from their promises to me which has broken my heart too. And even with my family and with my friends, I made promises to them that I broke as well.
I know what you’re gonna say, the old cliche that ‘Promises are made to be broken.’ And I must have held on to this kind of thinking that while I was reading the last pages of the book, How To Live Life On Purpose, being so determined and fully decided to fulfill my God-Given Purpose, I sought the Lord today to speak to my heart about it. I wanted to know if He will keep His promises to me if I do what He says as I have been a failure of my own promises and of other people’s promises to me. I could not just get over the feeling that it might not be true and something might go wrong.
I have ignored His call many times because of the present situation that I am in. I know the Lord has been calling me to write and continuously fill this blog with posts that will reach more people in finding comfort thru the word of God from my own personal experiences and the knowledge God has been sharing to me. God has also given me the passion to love the network marketing industry and has been opening my eyes as to why He wanted me to be where I am today. To be honest with you, I never liked to be part of the network marketing industry or what you call MLM. But God has His ways to put me where He wants me to be. Now, with all the learnings that I have for the MLM business and on how to do business online, God has been constantly telling me to share it with the people who are looking for ways to earn more income thru MLM or online business using His word to create a change in their lives and also use these people for greater purposes.
I am not an I.T. graduate nor have I studied web design or programming but I know that He allowed me to learn how to put up a website, learn how to blog, understand how internet marketing works, how social media marketing is done to put it all into good use for His glory. And it only became clear to me when I spent time with God asking Him what is His will for me to do so I can fulfill my purpose in Him.
But even up to now as I am preparing to do His will for me, I kept on asking Him about our finances, the bills that we have to pay and the income we need to generate while I focus on writing for this blog and building my business websites to help people learn how to become entrepreneurs using the internet as a tool. I know it will take some time for me to build this blog and my business websites and for that period of time, I know I will not produce much income yet but I will take hold of what God has impressed in my heart to do and fulfill His purpose whatever it takes.
I sought the Lord for reassurance that I am making the right decision and that He will provide for all our bills and the income that we need until we become financially stable again with this new endeavour that God has directed me to take.
GOD IS FAITHFUL
Again, my God gave me His assurance when I opened my Mom’s Devotional Bible for today titled, God Is Faithful. The passage says, “God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind” Numbers 12:9. I knew that God was telling me that he will keep his promises to me. He is ever faithful. One thing that we could be sure of is that it is impossible for God to lie. He can be taken at His word because His perfect truthfulness stands behind it.
LESSONS FROM SPARROWS
My worry was coming from questions of how can I provide for the family while doing God’s will and purpose for me. Though I know that He will provide as He has always been providing for our needs even if we have not been working hard to produce the income that we need. So He reminded me with Matthew 6:26-33, excerpted, ” Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? So do not worry. But seek first His kingdom and all these things will be given to you as well.”
I want to share with you an interview with Rica Peralejo from CCF Art Of Being A Woman Conference Interview 06/16/2011 that reminds me of this passage and encourages me to pursue my purpose. Regardless of the how, why, buts and ifs that we have, if we focus on God’s purpose for us, we will have God’s best for us just like the story of Rica Peralejo which is very inspiring.
FULFILLING OUR GOD-GIVEN PURPOSE
The most specific answer that God gave me as I was going through my daily devotions this morning to hear His answer to my question was when I read this daily devotion from my book Life On Purpose for Women. The title is Fulfilling Our God-Given Purpose. The passage starts with Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” My first thought was how God is doing His part to implant this verse to me as I have read it a few times this whole week. He keeps on reassuring me that He’s got my back because even before I was born, He has already prepared me to enable me to fulfill His purpose for me.
The author of the book made her son’s story as an example for the daily devotion that I was reading. Her son John earnestly wanted to make a difference for God and the Lord led him to start a Christian website, Jesusfreakhideout.com when he was 16 years old and has steadily grown and reached more and more people each year. But even so, he wrestled with feelings of discouragement and frustration from time to time. He was asking questions like ” How can I make a real difference when the grand scheme of things is so big? Is all of my seemingly endless work worth it? Does it have a point? Aren’t there plenty of other people doing the same thing and better? If they’re getting more rewards than I am, does that mean I’m not on the right track?
I was so shocked and I felt crying as these were actually the same questions that I was having on my mind. I have set up this blog for such purpose to share the word of God and be an inspiration for mothers, parents and people who are looking for God’s guidance in their lives as well as sharing my experiences and the things that I am passionate about. But its been almost a year and I haven’t really done much for this blog. I just let months pass by and even if there were so many insights God has been giving me to write in here, I kept on ignoring it telling myself I will never make it right or it will never be as good as those who have started their website and has established their presence online.
He explained it even more and went straight to answer what I exactly had in my mind and the emotions that I was going through while standing up for my decision to finally heed to His calling for me to build this blog and my business websites.
He reminded me once again that I am created by God with a very specific purpose in mind, and that He has prepared good works for me that only I can do. I have been burdened with the desire to bring people to know more about God and accept Jesus Christ as their savior as God has commanded us to do.This is the Great Commission “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Matthew 28:19-20.
Understanding how I could make a difference with my God-Given purpose in reaching out to people who are looking for God’s comfort and provision in their lives, and that there are probably lost people out there that only I can reach them makes me fully committed to continue and keep going what God has assigned me to do.
I take comfort in the word of God that He is true to His word and that “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me” Psalms 138:8.
Do you feel like God has been leading you to do something today that will fulfill your purpose in Him but you are feeling doubtful and discouraged by your present circumstances?
I would like to share this prayer with you from my daily devotion today from the book of Life On Purpose for Women:
Lord, today I offer You all that I am and all that I have. I ask you to equip me with everything I need to fulfill my God-given purpose and potential. Help me not to focus on what others are doing, but to focus on You and Your call on my life. Send me special encouragement when I get discouraged or doubtful. Thank You that as I continually seek to follow Your will for my life, I will enjoy divine favor, victory, and success!
