At the height of Pope’s visit in the Philippines, this news certainly got my attention.
MANILA – Former beauty queen Precious Lara Quigaman spoke up after getting flak online in relation to her Instagram posts while Pope Francis was in the country.
On January 17, the third day of Pope Francis’ Philippine visit, Quigaman posted images bearing Bible quotes, stressing that people can only be saved through Jesus Christ.
While she did not directly mention Pope Francis in her posts, Quigaman received negative comments from some Filipino Internet users, who said they got the impression that she is “disrespecting” the Supreme Pontiff.
In my own opinion, whether you are a Christian or a Catholic, if you really know the word of God and if you have real faith in His word, there should be no reason to feel offended by God’s word because its simply the truth.
You will only get offended by Lara Quigaman’s post for sharing the truth in God’s word if you don’t understand what it really means.
Hebrew 4:12 says “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
I am a Christian and I don’t feel offended by it because I believe that Jesus Christ is the only way for me to be saved and to have a personal relationship with God. Suppose I am a Catholic who understands the teachings of Christ and I only place my faith in the word of God and even if I see this post during the time of Pope’s visit here in the Philippines, I would not think that Lara is insinuating something that disrespects the Pope.
I usually post quotes, bible verses, etc on MY IG page to encourage, inspire, remind not just my followers but myself. When I feel down I post something to cheer me up. When I post pictures, it's not just for my followers to see but for me to look back to. Again. This is my IG page, I post what I want… sure I want to please my followers, but I also post for my own pleasure and more than that I want to please my God. Which is why I don't understand why a lot of people suddenly reacted to my recent posts. #nagulatako #super I respect Pope Francis. I am grateful to him for bringing hope to our kababayans and making a lot of us smile. I think he is doing a great job. The Bible Verses I posted are very powerful. And I believe in them. The reason I posted them is for my own personal reminder not to look anywhere else but to focus on Jesus. My Lord and Savior. My God. Because I Believe that He is the only way to Heaven and to share that message to my followers. (Even Pope Francis reminded us to focus on God and not Him) So what is the fuss all about? It was not my intention to offend or disrespect anybody and I'm not going to apologize for sharing God's Word. Words from the Bible. Whether you are a catholic or a born again, we are all Christians- and you will find that in your Bible. Im sure even the pope believes these verses. And you know what made me sad. People asking me to respect them when I think they don't even know what it means to respect someone. You are the ones who are not respecting me and what I believe in. And This is what I believe: that JESUS CHRIST is LORD. He died on the cross to save us all if we believe in HIM. HE IS THE ONLY WAY. THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH HIM! And I just simply shared it on MY IG Page. May God enlighten our minds. Peace.
You will only react to something if you feel guilty within yourself that you have not been faithful to God’s word. Maybe its the Holy Spirit’s conviction of leading you to search within your heart and ask yourself where you are putting your faith.
John 14:26 says “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”
It reminds me of a conversation that my son ( a 10 year old kid) had with my husband a few days before the Pope’s visit here in the Philippines. While they were in the car, he told his dad ” I think God is trying to test our faith when the Pope arrives here in the Philippines. I think God wants to test us whether we will place our faith in Him or with Pope Francis.” My husband asked him what does he mean by what he just said, and he replied “Because our God is a jealous God and He only wants us to put our faith in Him, no one else.”
Isaiah 2:22 says “Stop trusting in man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he?”
There is nothing wrong to respect Pope Francis and what he is doing for our country but you have to understand the truth that there is no other way to be saved from your sins but only in accepting Jesus Christ into your life and letting him take control of your life. No other way. Only Him.
1 Timothy 2:5 says “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
To God Be All The Glory!
