Remember some movies you have watched where they have all these technologies installed for security and when someone enters a building, they are asked “Identify Yourself.”
I can’t remember a particular movie to be honest but as far as I can recall I have watched a few movies and heard that line when one needs to enter a place that has a maximum security in place and uses a complicated technology for identification.
I’m glad that my identity is in Christ alone.
I don’t have to identify myself in such a complicated manner to enter God’s kingdom and be secured with His grace, love and mercy.
What do I mean by this?
I remember those times when I haven’t found myself in Christ yet, I was so lost. I didn’t know who I was and what to do with my life.
My life was in chaos and I was struggling with my identity and I felt so much hate inside myself that I wanted to end it.
I felt like I was born to fail and be a failure for the rest of my life. I just could not make the right choices to live a life that is out of misery and stressful situations. My life was in a turmoil and my problems were so big that I just couldn’t find the strength to identify who I am and why do I still exist on earth.
I know a lot of you felt or might be feeling this way today but I want you to know that the only reason why I am still here on earth and writing this, is because I found my identity in Christ.
I began to see who I was with Christ. I was fearfully and wonderfully made by my creator, God. (Psalm 139:14)
Knowing that God thought of creating me and placing me here on earth is more than enough to feel secure that I have a purpose here on earth and that my life is planned by Him.
The most common reason why people get lost is when they fail and then question their identity whether there was a real purpose of them being here on earth. When things seem so vague and unclear because you can’t find the reason why you even exist when your world is just falling apart.
This is how most singles feel when they keep falling short of their goals or when they keep failing in their relationships, for mothers who feel useless and worthless when things are getting out of hand with their kids, for husband and wives who are in the brink of separation, for business people who keeps failing in their businesses and a lot more who identify themselves base from their role as a mother, husband, wife, businessman or for those who base their identity from their careers or work or business.
Some identify themselves from how their parents loved and cared for them but what if your parents did not provide you the love and care you thought any parent should have?
Some identify themselves from how their husbands love and care for them but what if your husband no longer gives you the love and care you thought he would?
Some identify themselves from their position at work but what if you get fired one day and no longer holds the position you identified yourself with?
Jesus Christ is perfect and if we identify in him, even if we are imperfect human beings, we can feel secured with Him as our Lord and Savior. That’s because we don’t need to rely on ourselves but on Him who is perfect, loving, forgiving and the one who saves us from our sins and failures as imperfect human beings.
I know I will never be perfect as long as I am here on earth, and there are still a few times that I keep failing in the things that I do but I praise God for giving me an identity with Christ where I am constantly reminded of who I am in Christ.
After my life here on earth, I know where I am going and that is to be united with my Creator.
And I want you to share in this security, to know your identity in Christ and be saved by Him from life here on earth and after life in this earth.
If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and place your identity in Him, say this short prayer of acceptance of your salvation and God knows it from you heart.
“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
